A2L Field-Installation Instructions
Read all the instructions in this guideline carefully. If any of the instructions are unclear, clarify with a qualified licensed technician before proceeding.
- If not already plugged in, plug the 5’ sensor detection cable into the Refrigerant Detection Sensor (RDS).
- With the screws provided, mount the sensor directly onto the sheet metal delta plate on the front of the coil.
- The preferred position would be approximately 1” above the drain pan and below the suction line.
- If there is no room due to an installed TXV or feeder parts, find an open spot in the general area.
- The sensor can be mounted horizontally or vertically for the desired directional orientation.
- NEVER INSTALL THE SENSOR ON THE BOTTOM OF A CABINET UPSIDE DOWN!
- Now run the 5’ cable to the electric/fan low-voltage control terminals.
- It may be necessary to drill a 5/8” hole to access the low-voltage terminals.
- Use the grommets provided to protect the cable.
- Use the bar ties to secure the looped cable after the proper length is determined.
- DO NOT ZIP TIE OR MAKE A SERVICE LOOP AT THE BOTTOM NEAR THE RDS SENSOR!
- DO NOT ZIP TIE THE CABLE TO PIPES!
- On the furnace/air handler low-voltage terminal block:
- Connect the red wire to the “R” terminal
- Connect the black wire to the “C” or “COM” terminal
- Connect the blue wire to the “G” terminal
- Connect theyellow wire to the “Y” or “Y1” terminal
- Connect thewhite wire to the low-voltage wire coming from the “Y” or “Y1” from the terminal on the outdoor unit.
